SAMBA, Mar 13: Former minister and PCC general secretary Manjit Singh today alleged that Revenue Department and PRO office staff was harassing the Displaced Persons (DPs).
“Government has adopted its non-serious approach towards the DPs who have been given compensation but are being forced to face harassment for one reason or other by two departments,” alleged Manjit Singh, while speaking in a function organised at Ramgarh in Vijaypur constituency today.
Addressing displaced persons, former minister said that DPs remain in queue for hours together and when they reach near the window, they are told that some document is missing and they should bring it.
“They have not specified which document they need so that the DPs bring particularly that document. They are doing it because the officials in Revenue and PRO allegedly are charging them money for every work,” the PCC general secretary alleged.
When Government afresh ask for the registration of those Kashmiri families who have fled from the Valley, he alleged why they have not facilitated the DPs who are putting up in camp or non-camp. He demanded that Govt should simplify the process of compensation.
“There is a need for the fresh registration of DPs who were forced to leave their houses in Chhamb or PoK. The Government cannot disown them. They should be asked to produce only one document whatever they have. In last 70 years, how is this possible for DPs that they can produce some documents or even a single document? They had to leave their houses in emergency during hostility,” Manjit alleged.
