Retired policemen raise demands

POONCH, Mar 16: A meeting of retired police personnel was held here under the presidentship of Surjeet Singh and raised various issues concerning the welfare of retirees for consideration by the Director General of Police and all other ranks.
It was brought out that majority of senior policemen are ailing from one or the other disease and cannot continue treatment due to financial crunch and it was requested that a few beds be got reserved in police hospital Jammu and those referred be provided an ambulance for their convenience besides other pathological tetss be carried out there.
They also called for adequate financial assistance for those retirees suffering from heart problem, cancer and kidney problems. It was desired that a sum of Rs 10,000 be given on spot in the case of death of policeman on duty or a retiree from Police Welfare Fund.
Early finalization of SRO 43 cases; a 10+2 Academy be set up for wards of police personnel in Poonch for quality education; Special job quota for wards of retiree policemen in police department and such like demands were also raised during the meeting and the authorities urged to consider their demands on priority basis.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included Maqsood Hussain, Geeta Prasad, Mohd Ajbar Malik and Pandit Gobind Ram.
