RBI organizes Town Hall Event

JAMMU, Nov 26: In an effort to reach to people to spread financial literacy and awareness towards financial system, Reserve Bank of India, (RBI) Jammu office conducted a Town Hall Event in Police Auditorium here today.
The event was inaugurated by D Sethy, Regional Director RBI of J&K. The event was divided into two parts. In the morning session, more than 250 students from schools and colleges participated in the presentation made by officials of RBI about financial system and role of RBI. The students were also educated about basics of FOREX market. A quiz was conducted about role of RBI and its innovations in banking and financial system for the students.
In the afternoon session, B.P.Kanungo, Principal CGM, RBI, Mumbai addressed the gatherings of bankers, trade representatives, exporters/ importers and other Forex customers. He emphasized the need of better customer service by banks. He enumerated the measures taken by RBI to facilitate India’s foreign trade and make Forex market deeper and wider. He also talked about Biz project, a web based e-Governance initiative which strives to achieve integration of services and create investor friendly eco system.
At the end of the event, winners of the quiz competition were awarded prizes.
