JAMMU, May 15: Advocate Chander Mohan Sharma, senior BJP leader and convener, Namami Gange Tawi Andolan, today raised the issue of biased attitude adopted by Public Service Commission in selection of candidates for Government jobs.
While addressing a press conference here today, Sharma said that the Public Service Commission has been enshrined to select candidates for various Government offices/departments and same is to be done in holistic and judicious manner.
“It is also expected from the said institution that deserving candidates shall get selected and due representation be given to all the regions of the State of J&K but it is a matter of deep concern that the Public Service Commission has failed to provide fair representation to the candidates of Jammu region and deserving candidates of the Kashmir and Ladakh regions as well ignoring their merit”, he stated.
Sharma said that numerous complaints by deserving candidates of the State regarding biased functioning of the said commission in the recent competitive examinations are flagrant examples of the same.
“Astonishingly, the prestigious body like Public Service Commi-ssion is functioning without a regular Controller of Examination and proper process/ procedure of selection to the gazetted posts of the State Government are assigned to two retired officials of moderate stature who have been accused of manipulations and maneuvering such assignments requiring impeccable integrity”, he said.
These officials, he said, are enjoying all the power including excess to secrecy and empanelment of experts of their choice for conducting interviews for the last about 9 to 10 years. “Besides, they are enjoying unfettered powers for their ulterior motives which are resulting into unfair selection process and nepotism in the selection of the candidates for various posts”, he added.
Sharma appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to take immediate action to prevent the exploitation of the youth by the anti-national elements and unscrupulous politicians thus preventing further damage to the image of fair governance.
