JAMMU, May 21: The protest dharna of contractors under the aegis of Contractors’ Association of Estates Division (CAED), Jammu, entered into 5th day, today.
For last five days, contractors under the leadership of CAED president, Sanjay Soi, are sitting on protest dharna demanding early disbursement of their due bills pending with Estates Division Jammu as well as Treasury Officer, New Plot, Jammu.
Addressing the protesting contractors, Sanjay Soi said, “We have incurred crores of rupees on maintenance and upgradation of the bungalows and kothies of Ministers including Chief Minister besides Government quarters in various colonies. But neither any fund has been released by the Government nor any assurance has been given to the association unlike the Contractors’ Association, Estates Division, Srinagar”.
Flaying the Government for this discrimination, he said they are sitting on protest dharna for last five days, but no minister of Jammu Division approached them and listened to their grievances.
He appealed the Government and the concerned higher authorities to immediately release the funds for clearance of their (contractors’) pending bills, which are running in crores.
Among others sitting on the protest dharna were Mohinder Singh, Raja Mehmood Ahmad, Rajinder Kumar, Parveen Singh, Sukhbinder Singh, KD Singh, Arun Sharma, Sumit Sharma, Prem Singh and Diwakar Singh.
