Prof Malik appointed HoD Urdu in JU

JAMMU, Aug 1: Prof Shohab Inayat Malik has been appointed as new Head of the Urdu Department, University of Jammu (JU).
He was nominated to the post by the JU Vice-Chancellor, Prof RD Sharma, in exercise of the power vested in him under statue 22 of the chapter III of University Calendar.
This is second tenure of Prof Malik as HoD, Urdu Department. Earlier, he had served as HoD from the year 2009 to 2012, during which as HoD he made the Urdu Department of Jammu University as one of the best departments of the Country.
During his previous tenure, he had organized several national and international seminars and also various academic activities. During this period, the cultural and literary activities also got boosted in the University of Jammu.
A prolific writer of 18 books in Urdu, Prof Malik is associated with various Government and non- Government Urdu organizations of the Country. He is the member of General Council of National Council of Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), Ministry of HRD, New Delhi, Board of Studies in Urdu, Punjab University, Chandigarh, Board of Studies in Urdu, Kashmir University. Besides this, he is the general secretary of All India University Urdu Teachers’ Association and State secretary of Indo-Afro Asian Writers’ Association.
