KATHUA, Nov 28: Appreciating role of private schools in spreading education, Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi said the private education institutes have done commendable job in providing quality education in the State and some of the institutes have made their name in spreading the light of education.
“We appreciate the role of private schools and call upon them to adopt underprivileged children of their areas so that those living below the poverty line can also get access to good quality education,” she added.
She was speaking on the Annual Day Function of Manu Shiksha Kendra Higher Secondary School, Rajbagh in Kathua today.
The Minister said that Government is keen to provide better education for which a comprehensive plan has been formulated to improve the education standard in the State. She said vocational courses and training courses are to be brought in the study curriculum so as to open avenues of opportunities for students which were only confined to the contemporary streams of subjects.
She said the Government has brought reforms to improve the education delivery system as well as opening of opportunities for perusing education, adding that the concept of remedial classes at evening is one such step taken by the Government to give education aspirants a chance to peruse education at their convenience.
“We should encourage students to be part of national campaigns and missions of launched by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi like Swachh Bharat, Beti Bachao Beti Padao and other such issues which are being taken up by the government from time to time,” she added.
While responding to the demand of regular power supply in the area, the minister said the Government has taken several steps to curb the power theft menace and committed to improve the power scenario in the state. She called upon the people to make judicious use of electricity. She said Government will take all necessary steps to discourage power theft to ensure round the clock power supply to every household.

Earlier, the minister was given rousing reception by school students with Guard of Honor.
Chairman Manu Shiksha Kendra Higher Secondary School Kamlesh Paroch, staff, parents and students were also present on the occasion.
