SAMBA, Jan 20:  Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum (PPWF) today staged protest demonstration at Vijaypur in district Samba.
The members of the Forum including  a large number of retired non-gazetted Police personnel assembled at Vijaypur under the leadership of Ajit Singh, Chairman of the Forum in the morning and started protest demonstration.
They were shouting slogans in support of their demands. They alleged discrimination in the pay grades of the retired  Policemen (NG)  and urged upon the State authorities to remove the same. They maintained that the retired policemen were protesting since long and many times representations were sent to the higher authorities in the Police Department and also to  the Home Department but nothing has been done in this regard so far.
They gave the reference of Govt order No. 229-F 2014, dated 17-10-2014 eregarding pay anomaly and said the affect is being given prospectively, which means from the date of order, whereas, the effect should have been given from 1996 when 5th Pay Commission was implemented in the State. But only the Police Department was left out. Many of them expired but surviving strugglers  should be benefitted. The Pay Anomaly Committee was also framed and it has given its opinion as well but most of the decisions were never implemented. They said the retirement policy of the State Police Department should be on the pattern of  paramilitary forces.
After protesting for some time they  dispersed. Prominent of them included- Ragbir Singh, Karnail Singh, Mahinder Singh, Uttam Singh, Jagdish Raj Sharma, Krishan Singh, Tirath Raina, Ashok Kumar and others.
