Poppy, hemp cultivation destroyed

Srinagar, Apr 28: Police while continuing its drive against contraband cultivation have destroyed poppy and hemp cultivation over 100 Kanals of land in south Kashmir, a police spokesman said here.
He said poppy and hemp cultivation on 100 Kanals of land was destroyed by police in Zainapora area of the Shopian district.
“In Awantipora area of Pulwama district, police along with District administration in its drive destroyed poppy cultivation spread over 15 Kanals of land at Nowgam and Khandipora villages, one Kanal of land at Frestabal Pampore and 25 Kanals of land at Pinglish Tral,” the spokesman said.
He said legal action as envisaged under law is being initiated against the cultivators.
