Policeman injured in attack succumbs to injuries

SRINAGAR: A policeman injured in a militant attack in Kak Sarai area of the summer capital here last week succumbed to injuries today, police said.
Head Constable Habib-ul-lah was the lone bread-earner of his family and is survived by two sons and three daughters – one of them aged 21 years whose marriage was scheduled next week, the other two are studying in class 10 and class 6- besides wife and aged parents.
Head Constable Habib-ul-lah, who was injured after militants opened fire on a security forces party which was carrying out random vehicle checking at Kak Sarai area of the city on June 15, succumbed to injuries at SKIMS Hospital here this morning, a police spokesman said.
He said a wreath laying ceremony was held today at District Police Lines Srinagar to pay homage to the slain cop.
Civil and police officers led by Director General of Police S P Vaid laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the policeman who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, the spokesman said.
He said officials from the civil administration and other security agencies were present. (AGENCIES)
