Police recover charas, forest produce; 4 held

Srinagar, Feb 19: Police today said that it have recovered charas and forest produce in two separate raids and arrested four persons in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Shamsher Hussain told Excelsior that a special team of District Police Kupwara has recovered 500 gram charas from Kupwara town and its peripheral area. “Two notorious drug peddlers/sellers of psychotropic substances have been arrested along with contraband consignment. The arrested accused persons have been identified as Muhammad Hussain Lone and Sajjad Ahmed Sofi,” he said.
The SSP said in another raid, the special team has recovered 40 kilograms of minor forest produce and arrested two forest produce smugglers along with the vehicle.
The arrested smugglers have been identified as Bashir Ahmed Paswal and Ghulam Mohammad Shah.
“Cases under relevant sections of laws have been registered and investigation is in progress,” he added.
