Police foils weapons’ snatching attempt

Srinagar, Oct 23: Police men guarding minorities foiled an attempt by the militants to snatch their weapons today at Sirnoo village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district for the second time this week.
Militants tonight attempted to snatch weapons from the police guards at Sirnoo village but the police guards fired at the militants. However, militants fired back leading to exchange of fire from both the sides. After resistance from the police, militants fled from the spot.
Police and army immediately rushed to the spot and massive searches were launched in Delipora and Monghama villages of the district. These villages have been cordoned of and security forces are conducting searches.
This is for the second time that the guards at Sirnoo village foiled weapon snatching attempt by militants. Earlier, during night intervening October 16 and 17 militants tried to force their entry into the guard room and tried to snatch weapons. But police guards fired at the militants forcing them to flee.
