JAMMU, Oct 21: National Police Day, popularly known as Police Commemoration Day Parade, was observed in Jammu Zone and its all 10 Districts where impressive functions were organized by concerned District Police with large scale participation of senior Police Officers and prominent citizens.
The main function was conducted at Gulshan Ground Jammu where Dy Chief Minister, J&K Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh was chief guest and Danish Rana, IGP Jammu Zone, took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade. GOs of all Jammu based Units were present, apart from a large number of senior / retired Police Officers and prominent citizens of Jammu.
While speaking on the occasion, DyCM paid rich tributes to all those Martyrs who laid down their lives for unity and integrity of the nation in different parts of the country. While lauding the role of brave martyrs, he said J&K Police has been rendering yeoman service to the nation and the society under most hostile, difficulty and hazardous circumstances at the cost of their personal comforts and family . “Let us pray for the heavenly peace of these brave souls and for the prosperity and betterment of their families,” he said.
Earlier, IGP Danish Rana also paid rich tributes to all those martyrs from Police force while serving the nation. He also read out names of the martyrs from all Police organizations and Para-Military Forces like BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, NSG . He said that the journey to Hot Springs in Ladakh is a pilgrimage for every policeman in the country.
Pertinent to mention that for DySP Karam Singh and his twenty dedicated compatriots of CRPF patrolling the Indian territory at the Hot Springs in Ladakh at a souring height of 4,681 meters above the sea level, while guarding the integrity and territory of motherland, 10 gallant CRPF personnel had laid down their precious lives while repulsing the Chinese attack at Hot Springs, Ladakh on October 21, 1959. To pay homage to these martyrs, October 21 is commemorated as Martyrs’ Day by the Police all over India.
The IGP read out list of 473 brave martyrs of the country and paid rich tributes to them. This was followed by laying of wreaths at Martyrs’ Memorial followed by Officers from all Units along with senior / retired Police Officers, prominent citizens and members of martyrs’ families.
Later, the DyCM and IGP Jammu Zone interacted with NOK of martyrs. They paid a patient hearing to the grievances of NOKs of martyrs and assured full support and timely action on the requests submitted by them.
Earlier all the Jammu based GOs assembled at Police Martyrs Memorial at Railway Station at 9:00 am and paid rich tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for unity and integrity of the country.
IGP IR, Jammu Zone, DIG Jammu, all COs and Officers from Armed Police Units, SSP Jammu and all Officers of Jammu district, and retired Police Officers were present in the function.
A blood donation camp was also organized after the Commemoration Day Parade in which all senior Officers and volunteers of Team Jammu donated blood. “We salute the heroic cops of J&K who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the country, said Zorawar Singh Jamwal, chairman of team Jammu, while speaking on the occasion.
In the evening, an impressive function was conducted again at Police Martyrs Memorial Railway Station, Jammu where a large number of police /civil families assembled to light candles and paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the nation. In Samba, Police Commemoration Day Parade was held in proper ceremonial dress and gun salute at District Police Line, Shah Balode Samba.
Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister for Industries and Commerce who was chief guest of the function, applauded the role of Police, Army and other paramilitary forces for their endeavour in ensuring the safety and security of the nation without caring for their personal comforts.
SSP Samba, Joginder Singh, while paying rich tributes to the Police martyrs, threw light on history of the day. Reshpal Verma, Vice Chairman OBC Board J&K , MLA Devinder Maniyal, prominent persons, retired Police/Army/BSF personnel, members of Civil/Army administration and 20 families of the Police martyrs of District Samba were present on the occasion.
At the end of Police Commemoration Day function, a blood donation camp was also organized by District Police Samba in the premises of DPL Samba where 15 units of blood was donated by the officers/jawans.
On the day, a statue of Police martyr, DySP Kuldeep Raj Sharma, who sacrificed his life while fighting militants in Kashmir valley, was also unveiled at Purmandal Chowk as a mark of tribute to the said Police martyr. Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister for Industries and Commerce, unrelieved the statue.
On the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, D K Upadhayay, IG BSF, Jammu, Officers and all ranks paid tribute to the martyrs at BSF Shaheed Memorial.
IG BSF read out names of the BSF martyrs who laid down their lives in the service of the nation in last one year. During last one year, total 473 Police/ Paramilitary person laid their lives in the service of the national, out of which 55 belong to BSF, which is highest among the paramilitary forces, he informed.
Police Commemoration Day was observed at Uchhad HQ of 200 Bn BSF wherein martyrs of all India Police were remembered. On this occasion, Brig. Maninder Deep Singh Mann, SM, DIG, laid wreath on ShaheedSmarak.
To mark the day, a medical camp was also organized by 200 Bn BSF with the assistance of SDH Mendhar. In the medical camp, atleast 800 patients of Uchhad, Mankote, Keyani and other villages were examined by a team of BSF and civil medical officers while free medicines were also distributed for various ailments to the needy.
CO 200Bn BSF Sukhdev Raj, BMO Mendhar Dr Zulfkar Choudhary, BDO Mankote Mustaf Manhas and others were present on the occasion.
Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur also observed National Police Commemoration Day during a simple function wherein Rajesh Kumar, Director SKPA, read out the list of police personnel who laid down their lives for the country during the year, which was followed by “reverse arms” in Commemoration of the police martyrs. After the Commemoration Parade, Director and other Police officers laid wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial.
In Ramban, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) (DKR) Nisar Ahmed, Brig KP Singh, SSP, Ramban, Randeep Kumar and Commandant IRP 9th, Rajesh Sharma led the officers and personnel of J&K Police, J&K IRP Bn 9, Army and CRPF in paying the floral tributes to the martyrs on National Police Commemoration Day, observed at Shaheed Samarak in the District Police Lines of Ramban today.
DIG read out names and ranks of all 473 martyrs including 23 of JKP, 10 of BSF, 11 of CRPF, 2 each of ITBP and SSB who were martyred in J&K since September 2016.
Large number of officers and officials of Army, Police, BSF, CRP, SSB, ITBP and IRP were present on the occasion.
Later Officers interacted with the family members of local martyrs and listened to their grievances and assured them of their early redressal.
Kathua Police observed Police Commemoration Day and on the occasion, SSP Kathua Pawan Parihar alongwith senior Police Officers of District Kathua, paid floral tribute to Police Martyrs.
Sanjeev Khajuria, Principal, PTS Kathua, Khahil Poswal, Addl SP Kathua, Ajay Sharma Dy SP HQRS Kathua , Kuljeet Singh, Dy SP DAR DPL Kathua alongwith other Police Officers/Officials and prominent citizens of Kathua town were also present on the occasion.
In Reasi, Police Commemoration Day was observed like other districts and homage was paid to the Police martyrs at DPL Reasi. The parade was attended by officers from Civil / Police Administration /CRPF/ CISF/ Army and prominent citizens of district Reasi and families of the martyrs.
After culmination of the parade, SSP Tahir Sajad Bhat, along with Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, distributed blankets among the next of kin of martyrs as a token of respect.
National Police Day was observed at District Police Lines Doda where DDC Doda, Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas and officers from police and civil administration paid tributes to the martyrs .
While paying tributes to the martyrs, SSP Doda said that the day is of special significance for the policemen. He also read out the names of all the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
To pay tributes to the Police martyrs, Police Commemoration Day was observed in Police Technical Training Institute (POTT), Vijaypur. PTT Principal, Ranjit Kanwar (SSP), presided over the function and read out names of Police martyrs, who sacrificed their lives in service of the nation.
Vice-Principal Vijay Kumar , Ram Singh Jamwal, Satish Sharma, Madan Lal and others officers placed wreaths on the martyrs’ memorial and paid tributes.
Meanwhile, Pradesh Congress has also paid tributes to the police and security personnel, who laid down their lives for the unity and integrity of nation besides security of common citizens.
On behalf on entire rank and file in the party, JKPCC chief spokesman Ravinder Sharma , said that it was because of the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs that the nefarious designs of enemical forces were defeated so far and the lives and safety of citizens could be ensured .
