PoK DPs from outside State demand package

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Dec 23: Muzaffrabad (PoK) Refugees Welfare Society Punjab has urged upon the State Government to include  5300 left out families of the displaced persons  in the list of  DPs cleared for the PM’s relief package.
In an open letter to the political parties of  the Jammu and Kashmir, the Society members  who were forced to move to the refugee camps in 1947 at Chakrata, Yol Cantt, Kurukshetra and other places outside J&K said that what was their fault. They were well settled in J&K state and were displaced during 1947. They stayed here in several transit camps for some time and then were asked to move to different camps.
They said that a meager ex-gratia of Rs 3500 was provided to them in 1960s. Now when Rs 2000 crore package has been announced by the Prime Minister, they are being ignored.   They strongly demanded that  the PoK DPs families residing in Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Maharastra and other States  should also be provided compensation and made part of this package.
