JAMMU, Feb 21:  The PHE workers have geared up their activities in view of coming two days’ strike (Kam Chhorh Hartal) on February 27 and 28.
These employees under the  banner of PHE Workers Welfare Association (Jammu Province) have declared the two days’ strike programme. The senior members  of the Association including Subhash Verma, Ram Labhaya, Manzoor Ali, Surinder Kumar, Kulbhushan Nanda and others alleged that despite several representations to the higher authorities, the Government has failed to resolve the pending issues of daily rated, casual/ need based/ CP workers and other permanent employees.
No policy has been framed for regularization of these workers,  pending wages have not been cleared, moreover, DPC has not been conducted since long for all cadre.  It was also stressed upon the authorities to create welfare fund and higher grade posts besides change of designation of posts as per their nature of job.
Meanwhile, several senior Association members led by Subhash Verma today visited several PHE Sub Divisions and other unit offices at New Plot, Janipur, Muthi, Roop Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Barnai, Bakshinagar and Rajpura here and created awareness among the workers about the protest/ strike programme of 24 hours on Feb 27-28. They appealed the workers to actively participate in two day strike programme.
Verma  said that Associ-ation does not want to take such direct and unwanted action but it is the State Govt, who has forced them to do so. He further said that the Govt which could not arrange month wise wages of the workers, how it can be trusted  that it will regularize the daily rated workers. He further said that the demands of the permanent employers like constitution of welfare fund scheme, creation of higher scale posts, change of designations of employees and conducting of PPC meeting in time found manners, could not be given proper attention by the authority concerned.
