REASI, Mar 17: Senior Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh, who is likely to be the party candidate from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat, today accused the previous BJP Government of befooling people of Jammu and Kashmir State by its false claims of development.
Addressing Congress workers convention at Arnas here today, he alleged that the BJP Government didn’t fulfill promises the party had made in the last Lok Sabha as well as the Assembly poll campaigning.
Mr Singh lashed out at BJP for abandoning people with their problems related to the basic amenities during its nightmarish rule and said that the promises made during 2014 Parliamentary and Assembly elections proved just hoax. He said that BJP did nothing for the people except generating passions on religious and regional lines. “People have been living miserable life during the past more than four and half years, with nobody addressing their problems,” he alleged.
“It is extremely shocking that the Narendra Modi Government, which came to power on the promise of eradicating corruption, is doing completely the opposite of that,” he said, adding that still the people are facing acute problems while dealing with Government offices.
Vikramaditya Singh claimed that Jammu people were upset over BJP’s failure to address key issues of the region. “People of Reasi district voted overwhelmingly in support of BJP and they were hopeful that the party would restore their dignity and honour. But BJP has lost the trust of the people by ignoring their sentiments and aspirations of people of whole Jammu region,” he said, adding that the Jammu had sent 25 BJP MLAs to the Legislative Assembly but all of them seemed to have gone in forgetfulness and looked least interested in raising the issues of commoners in Jammu.
Singh said that Congress alone can ensure equitable development in all three regions of the State while keeping a close focus on neglected, remote and backward areas. He said Congress represents each and every section, region and religion of the society and has the vision, policies and programs for the welfare and unification of people of different shades.
Singh called upon the people of Reasi district to vote for the Congress so that the new era of development could be started with a view to fulfil the aspirations of the people which has remained unfulfilled during the regime of BJP Government.
Senior Congress leaders and Ex-MLAs Aijaz Khan, Mumtaz Khan and Vikar Rasool were also present on the occasion.
