People take out rally, demand Degree College

RAMBAN, May 21: Block Congress Committee members besides the public of Batote and surrounding villages led by Ex-MLA Ashok Kumar Dogra, Secretary, JKPCC and Spokesman took out a rally through the Batote Bazaar in support of their demand for a Degree College here today.
The rally after passing through the main market culminated outside the office of Tehsildar where a memorandum was handed over to Tehsildar, Batote, Srinath Suman in presence of INC, Block President Batote, Janak Singh, INC District Mahila President, Narinder Kour, Chairman INC, Minority Wing, Pritam Singh and Youth Congress General Secretary Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituency, Shahrukh Bhatti.
The protesters alleged that while 15 new Degree Colleges were sanctioned by the Government recently, but Batote was ignored at the last moment despite a promise by the Government.
They said that the students especially the girls from Batote, Sanasar, Patnitop and surrounding areas feel much difficulty in going to Ramban Degree College especially during the inclement weather and long traffic snarls caused due to the occasional landslides, narrow and ongoing widening work of NH44.
Among others present were INC leaders like Arif Salaria, Chunni Lal Goswami, Sarfraz Lone, Darshan Chand, Nazir Mir, Abdul Rashid, Balwinder Singh and Jasbir Singh.
