POONCH, Jan 8: People from Darana village of Mendhar Sub Division today held protest and locked local water pumping station which is lying defunct for the last more than two weeks now.
The villagers assembled near the water Pumping Station and started protest at around 8 am today. They also put lock on the Station and shouted slogans against the PHE authorities.
The people alleged that motor of this pumping station went out of order more than two weeks ago. Eight employees have been posted at this Station. They are well aware and even the senior staff at Mendhar Sub Division also knows about it but the motor was not repaired or replaced till today. Water supply to this entire area has been snapped and public is suffering. They sought intervention SDM Mendhar and DC Poonch. After protest for about two hours, they dispersed.
