UDHAMPUR, Dec 13: Inhabitants of village Jib and adjoining areas held a protest demonstration demanding black topping of the road from Jib Morh to Jib Chowk, which has been in worst condition with big potholes leading to accidents.
A number of villagers from Jib Majalta, Padanoo, Manmala, Nili Nallah, Bal Nagar, Mongraly Ashram, Bdola, Kambal Danga and adjoining areas took part in the protest demonstration and raised slogans against the MES authorities and district administration.
This 3-kms MES road is linked to Katra but has been in worst condition with the result that locals and devotees visiting Mata Vaishno Devi shrine continue to suffer. Further, this is the only road link for the locals to reach district headquarters Udhampur.
The locals had held a similar protest demonstration last month but there was no action by the concerned authorities. The protesting villagers today warned to block the National Highway if work on blacktopping of the road is not started within days.
