SAMBA, Mar 18: The People of Samba staged a protest demonstration here, today against the Pollution Control Department and SIDCO regarding the Solid Waste Treatment Plant which is being taken in second phase by SIDCO Samba.
The protestors assembled outside the SIDCO Office in Phase One, Samba and raised slogans against the Department. They were demanding that the Solid Waste Treatment Plant would not be allowed in Samba because the waste material of the four districts including Udhampur, Jammu, Kathua and Samba dumped in plant will create environmental hazards.
The protestors said it will lead to many problems of local people, and this dirty stench will spread diseases. The local people said that the plant should be planted in the forest area far away from the district Samba, so that the people should be kept away from the miseries and problems caused by this plant.
