PDD launches special drive, 465 illegal connections disconnected

JAMMU, July 29: In order to check power theft and regularize illegal connections, Power Development Department today launched massive inspection drive in different parts of Jammu.
The drive was launched by Electric M&RE Division-III Jammu under the supervision of Executive Engineer, Sanjay Sharma. A total of 190 illegal connections were disconnected in Udheywala near Jali Factory, Puran Nagar and Talab Tillo area by a team headed by J P Singh, Assistant Executive Engineer, SD-Canal.
Similarly, 200 illegal connections were disconnected in Janipur, Subash Nagar, Roop Nagar, Paloura and Bantalab areas by another team headed by Suresh Kumar Sudan, Assistant Executive Engineer SD-II Janipur.
In Akhnoor town, 45 illegal connections were disconnected by a team headed by S S Manhas, Assistant Executive Engineer SD-IV Akhnoor and 30 illegal connections were disconnected by a team headed by Vishal Chouhan, Assistant Executive Engineer SD-III Jourian.
Talking to EXCELSIOR, Executive Engineer Sanjay Sharma said that clear directions have been issued to all the field officers to tighten noose around those who are indulging in power theft and causing loss to the exchequer of Power Development Department.
“Now, drive for regularization of illegal connections and checking of power pilferage would be a routine affair”, he added.
