JAMMU, Jan 5: All Hotels and Restaurants Association Patnitop president, Kushal Sharma has voiced concern over Traffic Police decision to stop even Patnitop bound vehicles during closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, thus not only depriving the tourists of snowfall but also the hotels and restaurants of Patnitop of their business.
In a statement issued here, Mr Sharma said it was observed during past week that even when the Highway was through up to Patnitop, the Traffic Police authorities stopped entire vehicular movement from Udhampur onwards, thus, blocking the tourists, who intended to visit Kud and Patnitop.
“Generally, there is no problems on the Highway up to Batote except for slippery conditions. The Light Motor Vehicles can be easily allowed up to Patnitop. However, the authorities without looking into this aspect stop entire traffic on the Highway beyond Udhampur not only causing inconvenience to the tourists but also sabotaging the business of Patnitop,’’ Mr Sharma said and asked the Traffic Police authorities to revise their strategy during future highway blockades, otherwise, he warned, the Association would be forced to stage dharna and block the National Highway.
