Over 1300 kanals of J&K land under ‘illegal’ occupation in various States

Srinagar, Oct 7: The State Government today said that more than 1300 kanals of land is under occupation in the cities of Punjab and Haryana and in New Delhi.
In a written reply to MLC Bashir Ahmad Veeri, the Minister Incharge of Hospitality and Protocol Department stated that 1251 kanals and 4 marlas at Mirpur Sirsa in Haryana is under the un-authorized occupation of Bajwa Brothers to whom the land was initially leased out for a period of five years from 1957 to 1962.
“The private party got stay from the High Court of Punjab and Haryana since then the case is subjudice. The case is listed for hearing on 20 November 2015 in High Court of Punjab and Haryana,” the Government stated.
The Government said that 32 kanals of land of Jammu and Kashmir State situated at Tapai Road in Amritsar is under un-authorized occupation of family members of the original lease holders after the expiry of lease deed. The land is under three persons and is subjudice.
The Government further stated that the land measuring 96 kanals with huge building infrastructure on it at Kashmir House in Raja Ji Marg at New Delhi is under the occupation of Ministry of Defence, Government of India from 1946 at an annual rent of Rs 97, 942.
“The State Government has been vigorously pursuing the matter with the concerned ministry at the highest level right from 1977. The matter is being taken up with MoD to get the premises vacated besides enhancement of rent till the property is handed over to State Government, However, the said Ministry has agreed for payment of enhanced rent and sought time to handover the property back to Jammu and Kashmir Government till the alternate arrangements are made by them,” the Government stated in its reply.
Further more, the Government has stated that it has taken up the matter and is following vigorously with Labour Bureau Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India to vacate the state-owned building at SCO28-31, Sector-17 at Chandigarh which is under the occupation of  Labour Bureau, GoI.
“The concerned Ministry has purchased the land for the office of the Labour Bureau at Chandigarh for making alternate arrangements,” the Government said.
