POONCH, Oct 7: Eight Govt Schools have been declared as unsafe in Balakote Zone of Mendhar Sub- Division in district Poonch.
Official sources said that a technical team of the SSA led by Zonal Education Officer Balakote Abdul Rashid visited various schools in the Zone and identified eight unsafe schools. Most of them have been constructed under SSA after 2002. The students of these schools are under threat and the teachers were asked to keep them in the open till buildings are repaired or new rooms are raised. The team found that some buildings were constructed during 2006-07 and turned unsafe in few years due to sub-standard work carried out. The team also recommended inquiry into the matter.
The schools declared unsafe are Govt Middle School (GMS) Devta, GMS Galuta, GMS Ramlutta, Govt Primary School (GPS) Nakka Loharan, GPS Kullah Kallar, GPS Nakkar Sangiot and GPS Haryala.
