One killed, five Vaishno Devi pilgrims injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Aug 8: One person was killed while five Vaishno Devi pilgrims were injured today in two separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a youth identified as Varun Sharma (27) son of Batawar Ram, resident of Subash Nagar, was injured on August 5 when a bike on which he was travelling, was hit by an unknown vehicle at Trikuta Nagar. The injured youth was undergoing treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries, today.
He said that after conducting post-mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station Trikuta Nagar.
Meanwhile, five Vaishno Devi pilgrims were injured when a Xylo car carrying them turned turtle at Panjgrian in Nagrota area. The injured were identified as Anil Singh (65) son of Ram Narayan Singh, Parwati Devi (60) wife of Anil Singh, Rajiv Kumar (27) son of Anil Singh, Jyoti Kumari (25) wife of Rajiv Singh and Shanti Kunnav (68) wife of w/o late Satya Dev Prasad, all residents of Bihar. All of them were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. Nagrota police had registered a case in this connection.
