KATHUA, June 5: One person was killed and other four members of a family were seriously injured when head on coalition of a car and bus took place at Chann -Khatirian on Jammu- Pathankot National Highway near here, today.
The accident took place when an ill fated Car bearing Registration No PB06H, 1796 was on the way from Kathua to Jammu. The traffic was diverted on opposite tube due to maintenance of the Highway. As soon the car driver diverted the vehicle on the opposite tube, a speedy bus bearing Registration No JK21A 0555 which was coming from opposite side collided head on with the car and damaged it completely. The car driver died on the spot and he was brought out of the vehicle with great efforts by the police and people.
The other family members in the car were injured seriously. The injured were immediately shifted to District Hospital Kathua for treatment. The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Singh, son of Sangram Singh resident of Shiva Nagar, Kathua. The injured were identified as Dr. Rekha Slathia, wife of deceased Sandeep Singh , Abay Partap Singh, son of Sandeep Singh , Simar d/o Sandeep Singh and Madhu wife of Sumit resident of Channi Himmat , Jammu.
Police has registered a case into the matter under relevant sections of the law. The eye witness said that the accident was caused due to shifting of traffic on opposite tube and speedy bus driver on the same tube failed to control the vehicle and head on collision took place that caused a loss of precious life. They said that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is not working in a precautionary. The road accidents are very common due to negligence, they added.
The important precautions are not adopted to manage the traffic on busy Highway that is the main cause of road accident.
The driver of the bus fled after the accident giving slip to police and public. However Kathua police has launched a manhunt to arrest him.
