JAMMU, Apr 13: An 8-year-old Bakerwal girl was killed while 13 persons were injured in three separate road mishaps in outskirts of this winter capital of the State.
According to a police spokesman, a rashly driven Swift car bearing registration number JK02AH-8300 today hit an 8-year-old Bakerwal girl at Jagti when the victim was moving towards upper reaches along with her family on foot. He said that the girl who was identified as Tasleema Bibi daughter of Abdul Rashid, resident of Pahalgam, was killed on the spot.
“After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites”, the spokesman said, adding, a case in this connection was registered at police station Nagrota and investigations started.
Nine persons of a family were injured badly this evening when an auto bearing registration number JK02BT-4805 in which they were travelling, was hit by a speeding bus at Bawe Talab area on Jammu-Akhnoor Road. They were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment.
The injured were identified as Ashok Kumar (42) son of Jangi Ram, his son, Rahul (10), Varun (8) son of Subash Chander, Sonali (10) daughter of Madan Lal, Raman (8) son of Madan Lal, Sheetal (12) daughter of Ashok Kumar, Arti (6) daughter of Subash Chander, Madan Lal (40) son of Jangi Ram and Suman Kumari (35) wife of Ashok Kumar, all resident of Kot Bhalwal (Jammu). The Kanachak police had registered a case in this connection.
Another mishap occurred today at Chowki Choura where a speeding i10 car turned turtle. In the mishap, four occupants of the car including driver suffered injuries. They were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. The injured were identified as car driver, Ankush (26) son of Ram, resident of Nowshera, Manpreet Kour (26) wife of Sarbjeet Singh and her two sons namely Gursimar Singh (6) and Yuvraj Singh (7). The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
