KATHUA, Sept 27: Excise Department booked one person under Section 48 (a) of the J&K Excise Act, beside destroying 1050 kgs of Lahan, 90 litres and 50 pouches of illicit liquor during different raids carried out against illicit liquor in Excise Range Kathua.
The raids were conducted on the directives of the Excise Commissioner, Mohd. Javed Khan and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Syed Muried Hussain Shah, the Excise Team Kathua led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Vikas Anand, ETO Eradication & Enforcement Wing Jammu, Rohit Sharma & Inspectors Excise Arun Kumar, Sanjeev Khajuria & Sanjeev Gupta along with excise staff raided the Budhi, Upper Saktachak, Shatyal & Jakhbar Dhambra areas of Kathua District to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
During the course of raids one person namely Kartar Chand S/o Tej Ram R/o Budhi Kathua was booked under Sec 48(a) of J&K Excise Act for possession of illicit liquor.
In the process 1050 Kgs of Lahan, 90 litre & 50 pouches of illicit liquor which is highly hazardous and injurious for health were recovered by the raiding team from State land and later destroyed on spot.
