KATHUA Mar 11: Excise sleuths conducted a series of raids in Banyari, Barnoti, Ladwal and Ladhuchak villages of district Kathua, Bhatti, Bhangars, Kainthgali, Thathli, Panjas villages of district Udhampur and Kalakass, Gunni, Nursing Pura, Sagyote, Argi Dalhori villages of district Rajouri to check the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
During the course of raids one person Shammbu Nath son of Nanak Ram resident of Dalhori, Rajouri was arrested under Section 48 (a) of J&K Excise Act for possession of illicit liquor.
In the process more than 1050 kilograms of Lahan were recovered from the State land which is highly hazardous and injurious for health by the raiding team and later destroyed on spot.
The raids were conducted on the direction of Excise Commissioner, Mohammad Javed Khan and under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Ghanshyam Singh, the Excise Teams led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Rajouri and Udhampur Sandeep Gupta, Suresh Sharma, Farooq Choudhary and ETO Eradication Wing Jammu, Suraj Chander Singh along with Inspectors concerned.
