JAMMU, Dec 6: National Secular Forum (NSF) has voiced its reservations over purported move of Jammu University to purchase new luxury vehicles and criticized the JU administration for making extravagant expenditures.
Addressing a press conference here today, NSF State president Dr Vikas Sharma said that within one year, the Vice Chancellor has ordered purchase of five new vehicles, including two luxury ones. “This is highly objectionable. University is having big fleet of vehicles for its officials but still the authorities are going for purchase of more vehicles hence adding burden on the varsity exchequer, which is otherwise meant for the progress of academics and research,” he said and added that condition of roads in the campus was highly deplorable as several trenches have been formed on roads which indicate that poor quality of material was used to repair the roads.
Among, who were present in the press-conference, included Manmohan Singh, Ishtiaq Naik, Rishkesh Rana and others.
