Shouting slogans, the angry protesters also torched the effigy of State Human Rights Commission. They warned against giving any compensation to the stone pelters and also demanded immediate dissolution of the SHRC.
The protest was led by Th Virender Singh State president NPSU, who said that the decision given by State Human Rights Commission to compensate stone pelter Farooq Ahmad Dar was highly condemnable and a disrespect to nation’s sentiments. He said that Farooq Ahmed Dar was the main conspirator of stone pelting and booth capturing at Kashmir, and the move of compensation is going to raise the moral of anti-nationals.
“SHRC seems concerned about the human rights of stone pelters only and for it, Army soldiers, Police and Para-military forces don’t have any human right,” he said and asked where was the Human Rights Commission when Police officers were lynched and soldiers were killed?
Singh lauded Major Gogoi who showed presence of mind on that day and arrested the main conspirator, which resulted in saving lives of many Para- military and Government officials who were present at the polling booth which was attacked by the stone pelters.
“If Major Gogoi had not taken the decision wisely, there would have been mass loss of lives of Government officials due to the attack of stone pelters,” he explained and demanded that State Government should immediately withdraw the FIR filed against Major Gogoi and also avoid any compensation to the antinationalist stone pelters.
“If arresting a stone pelter is a violation of Human Rights, then what is the burning of schools and lynching of Armed forces? The State Human Rights Commission must come clear on this,” he said and warned that if the State Government dares to compensate the stone pelters, then NPSU would launch a mass agitation against this.
The NPSU leader also urged the Government to immediately dissolve the Sate Human Right Commissions or else be ready to face the consequences.
