JAMMU, Aug 12: Accusing the BJP of double standards over yet another issue of Art 35A, activists of  Panthers Party  led by party chairman and former minister  Harsh Dev Singh,  held  protest demonstration,  questioning its compromise over Art 35A despite its tall slogans of repealing it and inspite of  it being illegal and unconstitutional,   at Exhibition Ground here today.
The angry protesters burnt the effigy of the BJP  and rebuked the BJP for surrendering once again over the core philosophy merely for the lust of power.
Addressing the media, Harsh Dev Singh said that the Kashmir based political parties including the NC and PDP had jumped into the fray of ‘competitive separatism’ for promoting the agenda of the secessionists  and the call for “Kashmir bandh” today exposed the nefarious intentions of the secessionist forces ruling the roost in the Valley.
Referring to the statement of Mehbooba Mufti after her meeting with PM Modi, Singh revealed her obnoxious remarks citing that for the “idea of India to accommodate the idea of Kashmir” Article 35A that grants special status to the State ” should not” be removed .  “Moreover, she  said that the basis of BJP-PDP alliance was the maintenance of status quo on article 370 to which the PM had given 100% assurance on Agenda of Alliance”, Harsh divulged.
While taking a jibe at the BJP, he recalled that during the “Lalkaar Rally” in November 2013, PM Modi had openly opposed the Article 35A, 370 as constitutional hindrance in the development of the J&K which needed to be immediately abrogated to end the alienation of the State with the rest of the country.
Lambasting the BJP for its double standards over the issue,  Harsh Dev  said that while the Kashmir centric parties had united to safeguard the Article 35A, the Saffron party preferred to play a second fiddle in the alliance to enjoy “power joyride” with PDP. He said that Article 35A was not only unconstitutional but also posed a grave security threat to the State. He disclosed that by the virtue of the powers derived from the Article 35A, the State Legislature had been empowered under Sec 6 of J&K constitution to grant State Subject rights to the people of J&K who migrated to Pakistan during 1947 till May 14, 1954. He said that by enjoying such privileges these migrants could claim their deserted property and settle in the State which could further worsen the situation by posing a grave threat to the demographic composure of the State. He said that BJP which opposed the Article 35A and 370 and promised their abrogation in its election manifesto despicably betrayed the public after coming to power.
