NHM employees call off 13-day long strike

JAMMU, Mar 14: NHM Employees Association (NHMEA) Jammu Division today called off their 13-day long strike after getting assurance from Health Minister to fulfill their genuine demands.
Addressing a press conference here at Press Club, the spokesman of the association, Faizan A Tramboo, said that they have decided to call off their strike from today and resume their routine work from tomorrow, as Health Minister, Bali Bhagat, has assured to consider their demands for redressal.
Tramboo informed that yesterday a delegation of NHM Employees met Health Minister, Bali Bhagat and MOS Health, Asiya Naqash at Civil Secretariat, Jammu regarding the issues of NHM Employees and after their grievances, Bali Bhagat directed Commissioner Secretary, Health, Dr MK Bhandari, to constitute a committee of senior officers including Additional Secretary, Health, KS Chib, Secretary Technical and Medical Education, Dr Kabir Dar, Director, Health Services, Jammu, Director, Health Services, Kashmir and Mission Director, NHM, Dr Mohan Singh, who will examine all the issues of NHM Employees and make its recommendations.
He said that they never wanted to adopt the path of strike but the negligent attitude of the Government and concerned authorities towards their demands like regularization of services, equal pay for equal work and other benefits at par with other Government employees, forced them to choose the path of agitation.
President, Rohit Seth, vice president, Dr Hamid Parray and other core committee members of the Jammu Division Association, were present on the occasion.
