NCB busts Kashmir-Gujarat drugs trafficking racket

JAMMU, Sept 27: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Unit Jammu busted Kashmir-Gujarat drugs trafficking racket with the arrest of two persons and recovery of 10 kilograms of cannabis.
As per official spokesman, based on reliable information, the sleuths of NCB Zonal Unit Jammu laid a surprise check point at Kunjwani Chowk and intercepted a i-20 car bearing registration number GJ05JF-0946.
During checking, the NCB sleuths recovered 10 kilograms of cannabis from the vehicle and arrested two persons hailing from Gujarat.
The arrested persons have been identified as Vali M Patel, son of Musabhai Patel and Khan Feroz Khan, son of Abdul Khan, both residents of Gujarat, spokesman said.
It was revealed by the arrested persons that they had brought the consignment from Kashmir and was taking it to Surat, Gujarat for selling among the people.
The arrest of these Gujarat based drug traffickers’ shows that there is a substantive linkage between the Kashmir and Gujarat based narcotics smugglers.
The arrested persons have been produced in the High Court Jammu and further lodged in the District Jail Jammu for judicial custody, he added.
The spokesman informed that this is the second seizure of cannabis during this week and sixth by NCB Zonal Unit Jammu till this year. A total of 50.089 kilograms of the cannabis have been seized and 14 persons were arrested. Besides this, 856 banned syrup bottles and 4704 intoxicant capsules have been seized in the month of March this year from Toll Plaza Lakhanpur, spokesman maintained.
