NC sarpanch critically wounded in attack in north Kashmir

SRINAGAR :  A ruling National Conference (NC) sarpanch was critically wounded when he was attacked by a person, allegedly belonging to Congress at Hajin, in Bandipora district where three assembly constituencies went to polls yesterday.    Official sources said a NC sarpanch Abdul Rashid and Congress worker Shakeel Ahmad Khan exchanged some hot words over some dispute before they clashed at Kathpora Hajin.    Rashid received serious injuries in his head, they said, adding he was immediately rushed to local hospital from where he was referred to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS).    Police have registered a case and started investigation, they said adding it was not immediately clear whether the clash started on yesterdays polling or some other dispute.
