Natrang’s Summer Theatre Workshop for children begins

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 8: Natrang’s ‘Summer Theatre Workshop’ ,for children   commenced today at Natrang Studio Theatre, Kachi Chawni, here. Children between the age group of 7-14 years will undergo a holistic and well planned training for the next 40 days under the supervision of the expert trainers of Natrang and this will conclude with the performance of a new full-length play prepared during this workshop.
This is to mention here that  Natrang is doing regular Children Theatre in the State for the last 28 years. It has trained, inspired and motivated thousands of children till now and most of them have excelled brilliantly in various fields be it acting, media, management, civil services, medicine, engineering, social work etc.
The training module of Natrang’s Children theatre has been exclusively devised by Padmashree Balwant Thakur himself, who has taken the children theatre of Jammu to the entire length and breadth of the country. His plays like Mere Hisse Ki Dhop Kahan Hai and Aap Hamare Hain Kaun are being considered as one of the most celebrated plays by children in India. Children have immense possibilities and abilities to perform but they are required to be explored through such highly innovative techniques of theatre and arts. They are required to be infused self confidence and equipped with new tools of communication, organising self, focusing targets and the art of public speaking and this Summer Theatre Workshop plays a major role.
The period of Summer vacations is especially dedicated for Children Theatre every year by Natrang as this is the only time when the children have so many days in continuity to learn, explore and improve their personalities in a fun-filled creative ambience. Thus, a very creative, innovative and fertile ambience is provided to the Children where they  get a chance to get trained under the expert supervision of Balwant Thakur, Neeraj Kant, Sumeet Sharma (National Awardee), Aarushi Thakur Rana (trained in London) and visiting trainers will include Vikram Sharma who is a product of Lee Strasberg theatre and Film Institute ,New York.
Other than this, children would also get an orientation of music, dance, fine-arts etc. by the experts in the respective fields during this workshop.
The workshop is being coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen, Vanshika Gupta, Vrinda Sharma, Brijesh Avtar Sharma and Gautam Kumar.
