National Voters Day celebrated with enthusiasm

Chief Secretary launched a new official website of the Chief Electoral officer
JAMMU, Jan 25: National Voters Day was celebrated across the State with enthusiasm and zeal.
Third National Voters’ Day was celebrated with an impressive function organized by Chief Electoral Office at Police auditorium here today.
On the occasion, Chief Secretary Madhav Lal was the chief guest, while Chief Electoral Officer Umang Narula, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma and officers from State administration and State Election Department, besides senior citizens and large number of young boys and girls were also present.
Chief Secretary launched a new official website of the Chief Electoral officer with URL www.ceojk.nic.in, with facility for online registration, online electoral Rolls in Urdu, English and Hindi, e-filling of claims for getting name added, to electoral rolls, deleted from electoral rolls and modifying the particulars of an elector.
He also launched new SMS service for citizens for obtaining information regarding name, serial number (position) in electoral rolls, polling station, etc. The services will be provided on 91-9205001710 number. On the occasion Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) were distributed among scores of boys and girls who had attained the age of 18 years, thus becoming eligible for their right to vote and choose in the democratic process.
Students of Government Women College presented a very insightful skit highlighting the importance of electoral process.
Vigilance Organization celebrated National Voters Day. The ceremony was attended by Branch SPs and staff members of Vigilance Organisation.
Vichar Kranti Manch International (VKMI) celebrated National Voter Day in the premises of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dusshera Ground, Gandhi nagar with zeal and fervour. SK Jain, president VKMI threw light on the importance of the day.
Former Union Minister and MLA Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has strongly pleaded for extensive revision of Electoral Rolls and fresh delimitation of constituencies to ensure fairness of the election and due representation to all the three regions of J&K. Voicing his views on the observance of National voters Day today, Prof Gupta demanded fresh delimitation of constituencies.
National Voters Day was celebrated in the District Samba wherein the electors drawn from various blocks of district participated. District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh while speaking impressed upon the voters for greater participation in the elections for strengthening the democracy in the State.
Government GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar in collaboration with Tehsildar’s Office celebrated National Voters Day in college premises. The celebration began with lighting of lamp by the chief guest Prof Ram Krishan Sharma, Principal in presence of Amit Bhagat, Tehsildar and faculty members. A drawing competition on the theme Democracy and Electoral participation was orgainsed.
National Voters Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Government Degree College Poonch. DDC, Ajeet Sahu who was the chief guest highlighted the importance of vote. 30 EPICs were distributed on the spot among new voters. Principal Jatinder Singh, professors and students expressed their views on the importance of the day.
National Voters Day was celebrated at Bhargava Educational Institute, Samba. Sudershan Kumar, Tehsildar along with his team apprised the voters of their rights. Parkash Sharma, Chairman gave a detailed account of the voters role in the formation of the stable Government. Principal Bhargava College of Education Prof RN Thapa and Principal Bhargava Degree College Prof VS Hans, staff members and students were also present.
NSS volunteers of Shivalik College of Education, Udhampur in collaboration with District Administration celebrated 3rd National Voters Day.  Symposium on “Importance of Voting, slogan writing event, seminar on “My Vote, My Right” and a rally were organized, in which students participated actively. DDC threw light on the importance of the day.
Government Higher Secondary, Jakh, Samba celebrated National Voters Day. Symposium and quiz competitions were organized to spread the message of elections in a democracy. Principal Vijay Kumar Bhagat highlighting the importance of voting in elections.
Government Higher Secondary School, Garhi, Udhampur celebrated National Voters Day with zeal and enthusiasm. Mohan Singh, senior lecturer Political Science and Rashpal Singh, senior lecturer Economics threw light on the importance of the day.
