KATHUA, Nov 6: The people of the border and Pahari areas have demanded sanction of municipal committees for Marheen, Mahanpur and Sub Division Bani.
The residents of Sub Division Bani of district Kathua today demanded creation of the Municipal Committee at their respective Sub Division headquartered at Bani. They said this has been a long pending demand for last many decades before the State Government.
Similarly the residents of Mahanpur, a newly created tehsil which was earlier the part of tehsil Basholi have also demanded creation of Municipal Committee Mahanpur. Both Bani and Mahanpur are known as Pahari areas of Kathua district.
The people of the border tehsil of Marheen have also demanded establishment of Municipal Committee Marheen which falls under the urban development schemes of both State and Central Governments.
In this regard the people of these areas have made a strong plea to Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh who is convening a pre development board meeting at Kathua tomorrow.
