JAMMU, Dec 10: A motorcyclist was today crushed to death by a bus here at Jewel Chowk while a morning walker was killed in a hit and run case in Miran Sahib area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, today at about 1.30 PM, a Kathua route bus bearing registration number JK21D-3975 driven in a negligent manner by Anurodh Singh son of Harnam Singh, resident of Kathua, hit a motorcycle (registration number JK02BA-6092) at Jewel Chowk and killed its rider namely Ramesh Chander son of Preeta Ram, resident of Parwah (Sangrampur, Jammu) on the spot.
He said that the body of the deceased was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered and the accused bus driver arrested. “Both the vehicles involved in the mishap were also seized”, he added.
Another mishap occurred early this morning at Kullian near Stephen School, where a 67-year-old man namely Suram Singh son of late Raghu Nath Singh, resident of Tinde Kalan (RS Pura), was hit and seriously injured by an unknown vehicle while he was on morning walk.
The injured man was immediately rushed to GMCH Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 7.20 AM. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. Miran Sahib police has registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
