NEW DELHI, Nov 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has raised India’s prestige abroad and wherever he goes he is seen as a front-line world leader representing the largest democracy of the world with an absolute mandate.
This was stated here today by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh when he was presented a copy of newly published book titled “Modi Doctrine” by its illustrious author, Sreeram Chaulia. The book, published by prestigious international publishing house “Bloomsbury” and possibly the first of its kind to be devoted exclusively to PM Narendra Modi’s foreign outreach, has already proved very popular and sold several copies since it hit the book-stands less than a week ago.
The 251 page volume is written by Sreeram Chaulia, an alumni of St. Stephen’s College Delhi, University College Oxford University and London School of Economics, who is also a noted columnist for widely read newspapers like Economic Times and The Asian Age.
Complimenting the author for his brilliant work, Dr Jitendra Singh said, a distinct feature of Narendra Modi is his ability to experiment with out-of-box ideas and carry them forward with an uninterrupted focus of approach. The same quality of Modi has also helped him as Prime Minister to expand the canvas of India’s engagement with even the lesser known countries of the world, he said.
Not only has India’s foreign policy grown more dynamic in the last two years under Prime Minister Modi, but his proactive outreach to some of the hitherto lesser engaged countries has pushed forward India’s economic and strategic interests, thus laying the foundation of a super power which India is on the threshold of emerging in the next few years of 21st century.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, nobody could have imagined that the “Modi effect” which swept India during the 2014 Parliament elections, would also one day overwhelmingly influence the entire world including the multilateral forums such as the United Nations, the G-20, the BRICS, etc. The evidence of this is apparent in the kind of historic adulation and enthusiasm with which Modi is received in any part of the world that he visits today, he added.
Responding to unsubstantiated criticism from certain quarters, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Narendra Modi’s overseas trips as Prime Minister have been almost as many as those of his predecessors, but these are more visible because of the the media attention that he attracts because of his persona. Moreover, his trips as PM abroad are more productive with on average more number of programmes attended by him than any of the past Prime Ministers and also enormous time saved by him by sleeping and having meals on-board during travel.
