MLAs’ delegation calls on CM on reservation issue

JAMMU, Apr 26: A delegation of legislators of reserved categories led by Rigzin Jora, MLA, Leh today called on Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti here and submitted a memorandum for restoration of reservation in promotions.
The delegation apprised the Chief Minister about the gross mis-interpretation of stay granted by the apex court in SLP, filed by private respondents against High Court’s verdict of striking down Section 6 of Reservation Act and sections 9, 10 & 34 of Reservation Rules. They requested the Chief Minister to direct Chief Secretary and all the Administrative Secretaries to give due representation to reserved categories in the promotions.
They further urged the Chief Minister to bring a suitable legislation in the ensuing Assembly session to restore the reservation in promotions which is a serious socio-political issue. In the memorandum, the MLAs pointed out that during the Governor’s rule, they also met the Chief Secretary and requested him to direct administrative secretaries not to complicate already complex issue of Reservation in promotions but in spite of that the administrative secretaries are continuously issuing OPG promotion orders as well as moving many proposals of promotions for DPC clearance.
Asgar Ali Karbalie (MLA Kargil), Deldan Namgyal (MLA, Nubra), (MLA, Zanskar), Javed Ahmed Rana (MLA Mendhar), Ajaz Ahmed Khan (MLA Gool-Arnas), Mumtaz Ahmed Khan (MLA Gulabgarh), Neelam Kumar Langeh (MLA Ramban), Dina Nath (MLA Chenani), Kuldeep Raj (MLA Hiranagar, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal (MLA Samba), Dr Kirshan Lal (MLA Chhamb), Qamar Hussain (MLA Rajouri) and Chaudhary Mohd Akram (MLA Surankote) were part of the delegation.
The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing and assured an early solution to this issue.
