Minor girl’s death: J&K Govt orders magisterial probe

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday ordered a magisterial inquiry into alleged murder of a missing girl after opposition members from National Conference and Congress staged protest in the Legislative Assembly.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, Opposition members created uproar demanding investigation into death of a minor girl in Kathua district.
Asifa Bano, 8, of Hiranagar tehsil in Kathua district, who went missing a week ago, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in village Rasana.
NC, Congress members and Independent (PDF) MLA Hakeem Yaseen amid protest and shouts, “Laadli Beti Ko Insaaf Do, “Sharam Karo Sharam Karo”, staged protest in the House.
Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri while replying in the House said, “We are serious on this issue and have constituted Special Investigation Team to investigate the matter and guilty will be punished.”
Not satisfied with the reply, opposition created noise following which Mr Veeri ordered time-bound magisterial inquiry by the Deputy Commissioner Kathua.
