Ministers review application of geophysical methods to investigate ground water table

SRINAGAR, Oct 20: To review the application of various geophysical methods of investigating the ground water table in the State, a high level meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Minister for PHE, Irrigation and flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar Chowdary here today.
Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation& Flood Control, Forest and Animal Husbandry, Abdul Majeed Padder was also present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed threadbare the application of various geophysical methods to trace ground water and its quantity so that properly designed tube well system is installed at various locations which will prevent their future failure in terms of low or zero discharge.
The Ministers urged officers to take maximum advantage of modern scientific approach and adopt latest technology to solve various sub surface investigation related problems. They said geophysical methods provide information on critical geological features not visible from surface exploration and often missed by point information provided by drilling.
It was given in the meeting that geophysical method of ground water exploration will be applied at 20 different locations across the State.
Chief Engineer, PHE, Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and field Staff of various wings were also present in the meeting.
