JAMMU, May 16: A man died today due to alleged fall from a bridge near Panjgrian in nagrota area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a man identified as Janak Singh (62) son of Charan Singh, resident of Jagti (Nagrota) was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu this afternoon by some civilians after they spotted him lying under Kamini bridge on Jammu Srinagar National Highway with severe injuries.
However, the man succumbed to his injuries at about 3.15 pm. His body was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital, where post mortem will be conducted tomorrow.
Nagrota police has initiated inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC in this connection, as it is a matter of investigation whether the man himself jumped from the bridge or fell accidentally.
