JAMMU, Apr 13: Bishnah police arrested a man for outraging the modesty of a woman.
As per police sources, a man identified as Karan Kumar, son of Chajju Ram, a resident of Partap Ghar area of Bishnah took the woman of her locality to the fields near his house and raped her.
The accused took the woman from her house on the pretext that her husband has called her to the bazaar to purchase clothes.
As the accused was known to lady, she accompanied her on his bike, but the person took the bike to fields and raped the woman.
The accused threatened the woman of dire consequence if she revealed the episode to anyone.
However, the woman mustered courage and reported the matter to family members and police also.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 77/17 under Section 376 RPC was registered at Bishnah Police Station and man hunt was launched to arrest the accused, who went underground after committing the rape.
The woman was handed over to family members after conducting medical examination.
On specific information, a team from Bishnah Police Station conducted raid and arrested the accused.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Bishnah Inspector PP Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
