JAMMU, Aug 17: The annual Machel yatra left from here early this morning in a cavalcade of scores of vehicles for Bhaderwah where from it will leave for holy shrine of Machel Mata in Padder tomorrow under tight security cover.
Hundreds of pilgrims drawn from different parts of Jammu participated in the yatra which reached Bhaderwah town in Doda district late this evening.
According to official spokesman, the yatra will leave for holy shrine of Machel Mata in Kishtwar district under tight security measures early tomorrow morning from Bhaderwah town. In view of the tension in Kishtwar town it will not enter the town and leave from outside.
The administration has made elaborate security arrangements for the yatra from Bhaderwah to holy shrine.
Earlier bhoomi Poojan was performed at Pacca Danga, Maha Laxmi temple here by the devotees including men women and children. Later a Thali procession was taken from temple premises along with Akhand Jyot of the Mata to Indira Chowk where from the yatris left for Bhaderwah in a cavalcade of scores of vehicles.
The Akhand Jyot will be taken to holy shrine by the devotees. The devotees enroute were dancing and reciting the bhajans during the Thali procession. At Indira Chowk prashad was also served to devotees.
