JAMMU, Oct 13: As part of Navratra Festival, the Lakshmi Narayan Management (LNM) Trust, Gandhi Nagar organized an inter-school Rangoli Competition in the temple premises this morning.
Over 150 students from 14 schools participated in the contest. It was a riot of colours at the foreyard of the temple with different colours that mark the Navratras, adding to the religious splendor of Lakshmi Narayan temple. Each school was represented by a group of students accompanied by teachers.
While most of the school students picked up religious theme for Rangoli like Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesh ji, some depicted arrangement of nine colours representing nine Goddesses, associated with holy Navratras. Some also made decorative Rangoli.
In a tough contest, the team of Government Girls High School, Gandhi Nagar who made Goddess Durga with peacock won the first prize while the second prize went to the students of Shastri Shiksha Kendra who made Rangoli of Lord Ganesh. The third prize went to the team of SD Tarapuri School who too made an impressive colourful image of Mata. A consolation prize was announced for a 3rd class student of Convent School Gandhi Nagar, Kavya Gupta, for her solo work. She made a Rangoli with combination of Goddess Durga and Ganesh ji.
It was another unique religious evening last night with an exciting contest for “Maa Durga ke 9 darshan”. About 60 students of five schools presented nine images of Goddess Durga. Students in teams came to the floor in the background prerecorded Shalok of Mata and mesmerized the devotees. Each school presented nine images of the Goddess Shakti. Some even explained the significance of each of the nine images of the Goddesses with the colour associated with each of them.
Students of Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar was adjudged the best in the contest while the second prize went to Rich Harvest School, Shastri Nagar and the third prize went to Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana.
