LMD Samba recovers Rs 29100 penalty

SAMBA, Aug 5:  A team of officials from  Legal Metrology Department (LMD) headed by  Ajay Kumar Verma, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Samba and Mohsin Khateeb Inspector conducted extensive checking of various business establishments at Vijaypur, Ramgarh, Bari Brahmna, Lala Chack, Border Road Samba  and adjoining  areas.
More than 100 traders of different business establishments like Provisional stores, Karyana shops, LPG agencies, Atta Chacki, fertilizers stores, general stores, bakery units, poultry sellers, welding work, hardware stores, sweet shops, rice mills , industrial units    were inspected for their compliance with regard to various provisions of J&K Standard of Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 2011(Amended) and   packages Commodities rules.
The department also conducted surprise inspection at C&F Store of Indian Tobacco Company Bari Brahmna Godown with regard to MRP and other provisions of Legal Metrology Packages Commodities Rules after implementation of GST. Invoices of various products of Indian Tobacco Company were also checked by the team.
In all 16 traders were challened and booked for violations of various provisions of J&K Weights & Measures Enforcement Act 2011(amended), Packages Commodities Rules 2011 and other prevailing Legal Metrology Laws and Rules. On the request and assurance of traders not to repeat the same discrepancies as per the Act and Rules in future, all the Booked Challans were compounded by imposing the penalty of Rs 29100 on the these traders.
