Life-imprisonment awarded in murder case

JAMMU, Aug 10: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Pawan Dev Kotwal today awarded life-imprisonment to Gulshan Begum and her brother for murdering her husband Bashir Ahmed.
According to prosecution case, on 04.08.2010, Police Station Satwari received information from reliable source that dead body of one Army Lance Naik Bashir Ahmed of Kupwara (presently residing in Beli Charana area) was lying in his house. Accordingly, inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC were initiated.
During the investigation, it came to the fore that Gulshan Begum, wife of the deceased, was having illicit relations with Rajinder Kumar of Akhnoor and this led to estranged relations between husband-wife.
In order to get rid of Bashir Ahmed, Gulshan Begum hatched a conspiracy with her brother Ghulam Hassan and Rajinder Singh. Accordingly, Bashir Ahmed was poisoned and thereafter strangulated to death.
After hearing both the sides, the court awarded rigorous imprisonment for life and also fine to the tune of Rs 5,000 each to Gulshan Begum and her brother.
