Lack of quorum leads to adjournment

JAMMU, Jan 24:  For the second time during the ongoing Budget session, lack of quorum in the House led to adjournment of the Legislative Assembly, here today, when discussion on Demand of Grants for the Transport Department, was going on.
Deputy Speaker Nazir Gurezi, who was in the Chair, ordered adjournment of the House after NC MLA Abdul Majid Larmi and other Members of the opposition drew attention towards lack of quorum for running proceedings of the Assembly.
Even as some BJP and PDP MLAs, who were apparently sitting in Lobby of the Legislative Complex, rushed to the House for building mandatory strength as soon as voice was raised over the lack of quorum, the opposition Members accused the Treasury benches of being non-serious and pressed for the adjournment  following, which Deputy Speaker ordered for the same.
As only one senior Minister, Sajjad Lone, was present in the House, NC MLA Devinder Rana remarked that absence of the Ministers speaks about non-seriousness on part of the Government. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was also present in the House at that time
As the House was adjourned for 10 minutes, PDP MLA and former minister Javed Mustafa Mir was heard saying that it was responsibility of the Government and not the ruling party MLAs to ensure presence of Members for having quorum in the House.
Independent MLA Pawan Gupta mocked at Sunil Sharma, MoS Transport (Independent Charge) by saying that members of ruling party didn’t take his department seriously.
